Brian Gonzaga
Economic Empowerment and Livelihoods Officer
Brian Gonzaga holds a Bachelor`s Science degree in Environment Management with experience in wildlife conflict and socio-economic development. His greatest ambition is to work with indigenous communities in their natural environments through a mix of community-based approaches that integrates both conservation and socio-economic development. He feels blessed to have an entire career in front of him working with the diversity of cultures in refugee settlements. He considers himself a goal-driven professional who strives to maintain standards and exceed expectations.
Betty Nabirye
Administrative Officer
Before joining GRI, Betty served for 11 years as an administrative officer in the Government of Uganda Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affaires, The Aids Support Organisation (TASO) a civil society organisation in Uganda and with the private sector. She holds a post-graduate diploma in Administrative Law from the Law Development Centre, Kampala, Uganda and a Bachelor’s degree in Adult and Community Education from Makerere University in Uganda.
Angera Nduhukire
Environment Officer
Angera Nduhukire is passionate about conservation of wildlife and the environment. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science (Honours) from Makerere University. She acquired a vast experience in conservation projects over the past nine years through her work with different national NGOs in Uganda. An opportunity to work in a refugee settlement is an added advantage to her career goals.
Elena Iwanski
Programs Officer
Elena completed a Master in Migration and Intercultural Relations, which encompassed a module in Forced Migration, Gender and Post-conflict setting in East Africa at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Uganda. For several years, she worked as a social worker with unaccompanied minor refugees in Switzerland and in the Comoros. To her, working in Kiryandongo refugee settlement is a unique opportunity to receive deeper insights into Uganda’s refugee response and gain new perspectives on matters of forced migration.

M/s Lubega, Babu & Co. Advocates are legal associates to Global Refugee Initiatives. They support in the organization’s legal matters, contract arrangements, advocacy, and legal representation of GRI’s clients before courts or administrative tribunals through the Access to Justice program.
